Day Tour: Co Wicklow

  • Powerscourt House & Gardens,
  • Glendalough
  • Johnnie Foxes

In the County that is often referred to as the “Garden of Ireland” Co Wicklow offers you the splendid views of the Irish Sea and countryside as you climb through the mountains, which help to masquerade this wonderful landscape. First on your list will be a visit to Glendalough, with its famous round tower, one of the most enduring images of the region. A truly beautiful location, steeped in history, Glendalough translates to ‘the valley of two lakes’ and is where St. Kevin founded a monastery in the 6th century. You continue on to Powerscourt House & Gardens. Covering over 400 acres, Powerscourt is one of the finest gardens in Europe, designed and laid out by Daniel Robertson between 1745 and 1767. The property is filled with splendid Greek and Italian inspired statuary, decorative ironwork and a petrified-moss grotto. Powerscourt House, an 18th century manor house designed by Richard Cassels, stood proudly on the estate until it was tragically gutted by a fire in 1974. As you travel back to Dublin City
