Brú na Bóinne – Newgrange: Ireland’s most historical site, Newgrange is a 5,200-year-old passage tomb located in the Boyne Valley. Newgrange was built by Stone Age farmers, the mound is 85 meters in diameter and 13.5 meters high, an area of about 1 acre. A passage leads into a chamber with 3 alcoves. The passage and chamber are aligned with the rising sun at the Winter Solstice. Your visit here will include entrance to the new visitor centre where you can see a recreation of this event and try to imagine what it must have felt like when the Neolithic people of the region who built it witnessed that first sun rise.
