Day 1

Welcome to Dublin. Céad Míle Fáilte.

Your driver-guide is ready to greet you, as soon as your plane lands at Dublin airport. Your luxury vehicle awaits you and your adventure is just about to begin. We’re right there with you, from start to finish. You can sit back, relax and enjoy a well-organised trip.

From here, your central Dublin hotel is just 10km away. If you wish, your driver-guide will give you a short tour of the centre, whilst travelling to your hotel. Dependent on traffic and times, you might see O’Connell Street and the General Post Office. This is where the Proclamation was read on Easter Sunday 1916, for the very first time.

You might also catch sight of the Garden of Remembrance and The Custom House. Tomorrow, after a good night’s sleep, you’ll have much more time to explore.

You’ll be staying at one of our preferred 5-star hotels for two nights: The Shelbourne Hotel: The Merrion Hotel: The Westbury Hotel or The College Green Hotel. On arrival, your driver-guide will help you settle in, then leave you to relax and recharge.

Of course, if you’d like some ideas for dinner, just ask. We’ve got ample local knowledge to ensure you make great choices every day.

Your driver-guide service (private continuous services commence on the morning of day 3)

The job of your driver-guide is to ensure you have a fantastic and interesting experience. Time-served professionals, you’ll soon relax in their company and appreciate their flexible approach and fountain of knowledge. Providing a bespoke service, you’ll feel like you’ve won the lottery!

Safely transporting you for eight hours a day in your private, luxury vehicle, your driver-guide will take an hour for lunch. They’ll manage the daily detail, so you don’t have to. And they’ll enchant you with their stories about Ireland, new and old. You’ll experience the Irish warmth first-hand and discover unseen sights only the locals know. We understand our driver-guides form a very special part of your trip of a lifetime.

Day 2

Dublin City: Private walking tour and site-seeing

Your friendly local guide will be waiting for you in the hotel lobby after your first Irish breakfast. An informative three-hour walking tour starts from your hotel door, exclusively for your party. Taking in many key sights and buildings within Dublin city, you’ll welcome this informative insight into the capital city’s history and local life.

Should you have any specific points of interest, or mobility needs, we’ll happily accommodate them for you.

Custom House opened in 1791 at Dublin Port. Rich in neoclassical architecture, you’ll learn about it on this tour. Dublin Castle is another feature. Dating to the 13th century, it’s been a major government centre since independence in 1922. And the Georgian doors of Dublin are a popular “must-see”. You’ll love seeing their colour and decoration first-hand; an important part of Dublin’s history.

In the heart of Dublin, tucked away down cobbled lanes, you’ll complete your tour with a timed entrance at Trinity College Library. Here you’ll find the world-famous Book of Kells. Dating to the 9th Century, this ornately decorated vellum book contains the four Gospels in Latin. Historically, it’s extremely significant and carefully preserved here in Ireland.

You’re free to discover more Dublin highlights during the afternoon and evening. There’s much to see and we’ll help you plan your time. Perhaps the National Gallery is of interest? Or the Irish Immigration Museum? Or Kilmainham Jail? And there’s plenty of fantastic shopping on offer too.

You can arrange to keep your driver-guide (and vehicle) for the afternoon or try your hand on the public transport. Either way, we’re here to help you make the most of your time in Dublin.

Day 3

Dublin to Cork: Historic land of the saints and scholars

With so much more to discover in South-West Ireland, you’ll depart from Dublin today with your private, expert driver/guide.

Your destination is Cork. 265km across gorgeous scenery and past many places of interest. Accompanied by your trusted driver-guide, you’ll travel in the safety of your luxury vehicle. We include entrance fees  to 2 sites along the way.  Choose from

The Irish National Stud and Japanese Gardens – if you have a passion for horse-racing, you’ll enjoy visiting this historic thoroughbred breeding facility at Tully. The farm has reared many high-profile winners, such as Sun Chariot in 1946 (winning the fillies’ Triple Crown). The Japanese gardens are Europe’s finest. A place to relax and marvel for a while.

Kilkenny Castle – why not wander around the structure and gardens of this original Irish castle? Sitting proudly in the “high town” of Kilkenny, it was first built in 1195. Since then, there have been many additions and you’ll spot numerous architectural styles from different centuries.

The Rock of Cashel – situated on distinctive limestone outcrops within the Golden Vale, St Patrick chose the location for his head of church in Ireland. You’ll see a group of medieval fortifications here – most significant in Ireland’s history.

Cahir Castle – Surrounded by waters of the river Suir, Cahir Castle was built on a rocky island in 1142. Beautifully preserved through the centuries, it’s one of the largest castles in Ireland, and previously home to the mighty Butler family

The Queenstown Story in Cobh – there’s so much history in Ireland and this fascinating exhibition tells of some key events, including: the immigration story, the building of the Titanic and Cobh as Queenstown.

The Jameson Experience at the Midleton Distillery – a stop-off for whiskey-lovers, soak up the heritage of the Irish Jameson brand whilst tasting a tipple or two. You’ll find yourself among towers of wooden casks (housing world-famous Jameson whiskey) whilst learning about the maturation process first-hand.

Blarney Castle – you might have heard about the legendary Stone of Eloquence? Kiss it, and words will never fail you. Since 1446, the stone has been homed in the tower at Blarney Castle – built 600 years ago and now a world landmark here in Ireland.

To complete your adventurous day, you’ll arrive at Kinsale Harbour and check in to Perryville House (or similar). It’s a sumptuous boutique guest house and you’ll admire the comfort of your deluxe room, coupled with a lovingly restored building that dates to 1820. There’s no compromise here!

Day 4

Cork to Killarney. The Kingdom Awaits You.

Your travels continue today and after breakfast, you’ll wave farewell to pretty Kinsale.

Your destination is Killarney – and there are many ways to reach it. With your driver-guide’s help, you can decide on the day and take account of the weather. Along the coast, or perhaps a more direct route inland, through pretty towns and villages.

Perhaps start from Old Head of Kinsale. It’s scenic overload, where the mighty Atlantic Ocean meets towering cliffs. This is also the start of the Wild Atlantic Way. and you might choose to travel an early section of the route. You’ll be awash with breath-taking panoramas and glorious natural wonder. Such serene Irish beauty to awaken your soul.

Rural Irish character awaits you if you opt for an inland route. There are so many charming villages to see.

You’ll no doubt have your camera at the ready, and your driver-guide knows all the best photo-stops. Make the adventure your own and choose and time and place for lunch to suit you.

Built as a tourist resort, you’ll reach Killarney during the afternoon (perhaps earlier, dependent on your route). On the shores of Lough Leane, Queen Victoria stayed in Killarney in 1750. And you’ll enjoy three nights here now. It’s such a pretty town with its mountainous backdrop and proximity to Killarney National Park.

There’s a wide choice of hand-picked 5-star hotel options in Killarney. In the heart of town, the Killarney Park Hotel offers incredible comfort and a central location. Another discerning choice is Hotel Dunloe. Overlooking the Gap of Dunloe, it’s just five minutes from town, yet situated in a 64-acre estate. A lakeside room at the Aghadoe Heights Hotel is another option, as is the Europe Hotel – also lakeside.

Killarney is yours this evening. With so much to offer, your driver-guide will have many recommendations to ensure you enjoy a fabulous night.

Day 5

The Ring of Kerry

The incredible scenery of the Ring of Kerry beckons you today. And your attentive driver-guide is with you all the way, ensuring you experience the best of this glorious westerly landscape. This is a circular route that forms part of The Wild Atlantic Way. And there’s so many hidden gems to point out to you.

First-stop is Killorglin, travelling through the sweet coastal village of Glenbeigh. Here you’ll find one of the best sandy Atlantic beaches Ireland can offer.

There’s so much more to see on the Ring of Kerry. We recommend Dingle Bay, with its clean, sandy beaches, towering cliffs and crashing waves. Your driver-guide knows all the best viewpoints – photographers will be in paradise here.

You’ll keep going and keep discovering. Cahirciveen is the birthplace of Daniel O’Connell, Ireland’s Great Liberator. And Skellig Ring is a fantastic detour if time allows (some say it’s more tranquil than the Ring of Kerry). This route can take you to Valentia Island. Well worth the effort. And not just to catch sight of Skellig Island – a key location for the latest Star Wars films.
Still you’ll discover awe-inspiring and rugged beauty as you pass thorough Sneem village and on to Molls Gap. There are staggering views of South-West Ireland from this winding mountain pass that elevates through the peaks.

Killarney National Park is now within reach and you’ll return to Killarney during the afternoon (perhaps later if you enjoyed Skellig Ring too). There’s more to see in Killarney, such as Muckrose House & Gardens or Torc Waterfall. Or you might just want to kick off your shoes back at the hotel.

Tonight, why don’t we organise a fantastic Irish music and dance show for you? The Celtic Steps perform in Killarney and your driver-guide can arrange everything. Or maybe a quiet meal is more in order? We can arrange that too.

Day 6

The Dingle Peninsula

Ireland’s most westerly point, the Dingle Peninsula offers rugged scenery and astonishing views. Your driver-guide will tour you around, ensuring you see all the best vistas.

Slea Head Drive will definitely be a highlight. It’s one of the top 100 destinations in the world according to TripAdvisor. And National Geographic once called it “the most beautiful place on earth”. We’re proud it’s in Ireland!

If you’re looking for a beautiful escape, this circular route is it. Starting and finishing at the attractive harbour town of Dingle, there’s no shortage of sheltered sandy beaches, ancient archaeological sites and rugged landscape to admire. You’ll love the sense of peace this area exudes. And it’s hard not to be drawn by the clear air and captivating natural light.

Fancy a barefoot walk on the sandy beach? You can try and imagine how the Neolithic settlers made this wonderful place their home, back in 4,000BC.

Dingle offers plenty of choice for lunch. It might be local seafood fare or other delicious foods. And you’ll be glad of your driver-guide here, given that traditional Irish is the first language. It sits firmly within one of the Gaeltacht regions. What an enchanting place to experience traditional Irish life!

Your route back to Killarney includes the Conor Pass to Tralee. Sit back and drink in the views as your driver-guide addresses the winding climbs and magnificent peaks with ease. You’ll soon be back at your hotel now.

And so, to your last evening in Killarney. There are many special dining locations and we can arrange one to suit you. Your driver-guide always at your service.

Day 7

North to Cong via Bunratty and Galway

Today, you’ll leave Killarney and travel north, in the company of your driver-guide.

First stop is Adare. A designated Heritage Town, south-west of Limerick, you’ll see why it’s named as one of the prettiest towns in Ireland. Dating to the 9th century and rich in history, this friendly town boasts thatched cottages, a castle and many old buildings of interest.

Slightly further north, you’ll stop at Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. You might choose to take lunch in Durty Nelly’s – a famous, 1620 Irish pub. It’s where locals and tourists chat like old friends amid rustic charm and Irish hospitality.

You’ll enjoy the entrance and a guided tour of the castle. An iconic landmark, it’s the most complete in Ireland; the site dating back to a Viking camp in 970. The castle was built in 1425 and sympathetically restored in 1954. Having housed Earls, noble Lords and Ladies, its splendid interior is adorned with tapestries, artwork and 15th century furniture.

Bunratty Folk Park is adjacent to the castle, set within 26 acres. It’s a “living” village that enables you to experience Irish life over a century ago. There are over 30 buildings and you’ll stroll around them, taking in the school, post office, doctor’s house, not forgetting McNamara’s pub.

The afternoon is dedicated to Galway city. A cultural and artistic hotspot, it was named a UNESCO City of Film in 2014. Rich in history, you might know it as The City of Tribes. There were fourteen merchant families that dominated its politics, commerce and society from the 13th to 19th century. Vibrant and exhilarating, there’s something for all ages in Galway.

And so, to Cong this evening. A Corrib lake view room in Ashford Castle awaits you for two nights. The former home of the Guinness family, this fine, 800-year old castle is remarkable in every sense. Relax this evening, it’s been quite a day. Your driver-guide will leave you with many delicious ideas for dinner.

Day 8

Connemara National Park and Kylemore Abbey

The striking scenery of Connermara makes it a key destination for those seeking an authentic Irish experience. Wild and unspoilt, it’s a vast land of glistening lakes and far-reaching heathlands framed with mountainous backdrops (such as The Twelve Bens). Wild ponies and old stone walls add to the romance. Your heart will sing here!

Today, your trusty driver-guide will tour you round the very best of this traditional Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking) region. There’s much to see and you’ll choose your highlights. Tour for the entire day or opt for an afternoon to languish at Ashford Castle, amongst all its finery and facilities.

A picturesque market town awash with Atlantic Ocean air, Clifden is a welcoming place to visit. Wander around traditional streets rich in music, arts and hospitality, then head out on the sky road, for views a-plenty.
This 10-mile circular driving route on the Kingstown peninsula is part of the Wild Atlantic Way. Lose yourself in the glorious coastal views and untouched, natural beauty. Stop at the highest point for astonishing vistas that you’ll cherish for life.

You’ll visit Kylemore Abbey and walled gardens on your tour. Entrance fees are included. Built in 1867, the abbey was an elaborate gesture of love to Margaret Henry, wife of Mitchell. Having honeymooned in Ireland, they were drawn to its beauty. And yet Margaret sadly died three years after completion. Since 1920, Kylemore Abbey has been home to the Benedictine nuns. And you’ll appreciate the spirit of this special space – all 13,000 acres of it.

Our suggested tour then takes you north via Killary Harbour – Ireland’s only true Fjord – before returning to Ashford Castle along the Joyce Country Drive.

Should you wish to extend your driver-guide tour today (until 5pm), you might consider Roundstone Bog; the largest natural bogland in the world. The village of Roundstone is also worthy of a visit. It was used as a location in The Matchmaker film. You’ll also discover a monument here, dedicated to Alcock and Brown, following their transatlantic crossing in a Vickers Vinny aircraft in 1919.

However you choose to spend your day, you’ll enjoy a second, luxurious night within the walls of 5-star Ashford Castle.

Day 9

Burren National Park and the Cliffs of Moher

This morning you’ll head south with your driver-guide into the heart of the Burren Region. This natural Geosite is an archaeological dream, and home to Burren National Park. An intriguing limestone landscape, it was formed over 300 million years ago by the wild extremes of the environment in this exposed western area.

You’ll catch sight of naturally formed mushroom-like structures in addition to ancient monuments and Neolithic sites dating back 6,000 years. As ever, your driver-guide will have all the facts to-hand.
After a short drive along Galway Bay, you’ll approach the mighty Cliffs of Moher.

A UNESCO Global Geopark, the cliffs stretch for five miles along the vast Atlantic Ocean, reaching an incredible 668 feet at their peak. This is one of the most impressive coastlines Ireland has to offer. And you’ll quickly see why.

Wander along the cliff-tops (not too close!) and you might spot basking sharks and dolphins below. Or nesting Kittiwakes and Razorbills among pretty Irish wild flowers.

We include entrance to the visitor centre. Or you might prefer a coastal cruise for a different perspective of this geological wonder. You can plan this with your driver-guide on the day.

Back in your luxury vehicle, you’ll head to your final overnight stop on this Irish adventure. It’s hard not to be impressed with Dromoland Castle as you approach it. A 5-star hotel with zero compromises and every focus on incredible comfort, your deluxe room will not disappoint. An original ancestral home, discover the 16th century history in its 450 acres whilst relaxing in decadent luxury.

Your last evening in Ireland (this time). You might dine at the castle or opt for a medieval banquet at Bunratty Castle instead. Just let us know and we’ll arrange everything for you.
